The Islamic Development Bank will provide USD196 million to support a power project in Tunisia. The funding will be used to expand the Ferian and Thyna Power Plant, including studies, civil works, commission and supervision, and the procurement and installation of two gas turbine units. IsDB President Ahmad Mohamed Ali said that the bank is “financially strong and despite the current market conditions, it will be able to meet its commitment to member countries and conduct its normal operations.” (“USD 196 million agreement between IDB and the Tunisian Company for Electricity and Gas” - Nov. 18, 2008)
