In a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on April 1, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon aired concern over the stalled peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians. The secretary-general told Netanyahu that he hoped the prime minister “would act with wisdom and restraint,” according to a statement from Ban’s spokesperson. Ban also urged Netanyahu to take meaningful steps toward ending Israel’s blockade of Gaza, the U.N. News Center says.
