The Japanese government will grant USD2 million to help Bangladesh improve its microinsurance sector, according to the

The funding – drawn from ADB's Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction – will be used to develop low-cost insurance services to help protect the income of the poor, particularly women, from risks such as accidents, illness, theft, and natural disasters. An insurance awareness campaign and training for at least 50,000 poor rural families will also be conducted under the initiative.
