Japan has disbursed $35.71 million in reconstruction aid for Pakistan’s earthquake-devastated areas. “Twenty medical facilities as well as 17 educational institutions are to be reconstructed in Batagram district in the Northwestern Frontier Province (NWFP) under the (non-project grant assistance programme),” a statement by the Japanese embassy in Islamabad reads. Tokyo also provided an emergency grant package of $20 million – $12 million in bilateral aid to Pakistan and $8 million in response to a United Nations appeal for the victims of the October 2005 disaster.
