JICA chief visits Africa to promote closer relations

    Japan International Cooperation Agency president Sadako Ogata highlighted the need for improved human security in Africa, saying that empowering individuals provides an impetus for poverty reduction and sustained peace in the region. The JICA chief, speaking before African Union officials in Ethiopia, promoted the formation of robust ties between Africa and the Japan. “JICA will strengthen partnerships with international organizations and other donor countries and in turn the international community and Africa should strengthen their own cooperation to help reach the continent’s goals,” remarked Ogata. “JICA will pledge to be Africa’s helpful partner and grow with you toward peace and prosperity,” she added.
