Jordanian Water Minister Zafer al-Aalem announced that 11 firms would be invited to carry out a technical and environmental feasibility study for the Red Sea-Dead Sea canal, the Petra news agency reported. At the end of June the World Bank will ask these firms to submit their offers. The firms have until September 15 to present their projects. Once the proposals are in hand, representatives from Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority will meet in Paris with the World Bank to examine the offers and announce two winners, he said. (AFP)
