A USD78 million World Bank loan will help Kazakhstan provide reliable electricity supply in the Almaty region. The project seeks to build an overhead transmission line from the YuKGRES substation to the Alma substation.

“The primary objective of the Alma Electricity Transmission Project for Kazakhstan is to improve the reliability and quality of the electricity supply to consumers in the Almaty region, in an environmentally responsible and financially sustainable manner,” said Imtiaz Hizkil, the bank’s project team leader.
