Devex tracks tenders from more than 200 agencies and foundations to provide our members comprehensive coverage of aid and development procurement opportunities worldwide. Our analysis of last month’s tenders of bilateral donors reveals that the following five bilateral agencies announced the most procurement opportunities:
▪ Kfw Entwicklungsbank (43)
▪ French Development Agency (40)
▪ U.S. Agency for International Development (34)
▪ Japan International Cooperation Agency (23)
▪ Belgian Technical Cooperation (22)
We found that there were significant variations in the sector focus of the tenders issued by the five donors. KfW issued most of its tenders in water and sanitation and infrastructure, both of which count among the agency’s sector priorities. Meanwhile, AfD and USAID issued the majority of their tenders in institutional development. Most of the solicitations called for project management, and monitoring and evaluation services. The bulk of JICA’s tenders were in support of infrastructure projects (i.e. construction of sea ports and air ports), which is unsurprising given the agency’s heavy focus on infrastructure. Finally, BTC issued most of its tenders in health and institutional development. BTC health solicitations focused on improving reproductive health and health systems strengthening.
