The U.S. nonprofit organization Malaria No More has announced that former USAID chief of staff William “Bill” Steiger will take over as its new CEO in January.
Steiger will replace outgoing CEO Martin Edlund, who has led the organization since 2013. The leadership transition comes as many global health advocacy organizations face an uphill battle for influence with the Trump administration, which has canceled billions of dollars in global health and development funding and engineered a fundamental rethink of the U.S. government’s role in fighting disease around the world.
“We are moving into another era, but a necessary transition,” Steiger said of U.S. global health leadership in an interview with Devex.
