The construction of 16 water storage facilities in Baghdad, the largest municipal water project in the Middle East, has already commenced, according to Radio Free Iraq. The cost of the first phase of the project is estimated at USD1 billion. France’s Degremont and Iraqi companies Al-Mabrook and Issam al-Iraqi are implementing the project, which is expected to be completed by 2012.
