Mauritius was declared as the best-governed nation out of 48 sub-Saharan African countries, according to the Ibrahim governance index. Somalia plunged to the bottom of the list followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo. The index, backed by Sudanese-born entrepreneur and philanthropist Mo Ibrahim, revealed that governance improved in almost two-thirds of countries in the sub-Saharan region. (BBC)
