John Danilovich, who leads the Millennium Challenge Corporation, is pleased with how the Philippines is executing the threshold agreement that agency and the Asian country signed in 2006. At a press conference with Philippine leader Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Washington, Danilovich expressed his eagerness to receive the country’s proposal for compact funding in 2009. The amount of aid, based on existing deals, now ranges between USD65 million and USD700 million. The MCC chief, however, stressed that the agency has not fixed a ceiling for grants. “Each country has a different proposal, different requirements, overall development assistance and foreign aid requirements, and necessities that need to be fulfilled,” he explained.
