International development may “fall silent” under the United Kingdom’s new Labour Party government after confusing early shake-ups, the immediate past Conservative development minister, Andrew Mitchell, has warned.
Mitchell raised the alarm after the words “international development” were removed from the official job title of the minister who replaced him, Anneliese Dodds, who has been handed a second post in a different department.
The former minister is also concerned that Labour has said almost nothing about its future plans for aid and development, either before or after taking power on July 5.
