The International Fund for Agricultural Development will provide USD15.2 million worth of assistance to Nepal in a bid to help reduce poverty in the country’s hill and mountain regions.
The assistance includes a USD7.6 million loan agreement and a USD7.6 million grant. It will be used to finance a new project that seeks to reduce poverty and social inequality in Nepal’s Mid-Western Development Region by promoting diversification in the crops produced by farmers in the area.
Some 52,000 of the poorest and most vulnerable households in the area are expected to benefit from the project.
