Norwegian foreign minister Jonas Gahr Stoere announced that his government plans to boost aid to Afghanistan by 50 percent. The increased funding aims to stabilize the volatile security situation in the country and shore up anti-terrorism resources. “Norway stays committed and will double its assistance, to be spent in close coordination with Afghan state institutions. Norway will continue to help the people of Afghanistan as long as needed,” said the diplomat during a meeting with Afghan president Hamid Karzai.
