Oxfam has resumed its work in Aceh after the conclusion of its probe on lost tsunami cash for the province. Now, 22 of its own staff are facing disciplinary action, with 10 at risk of getting dismissed for “gross misconduct relating to fraudulent activities.” The British charity said “the fraudulent activities centered on discrepancies between amounts paid to suppliers for goods and the quantity of goods delivered.” According to the relief group $20,000 of the total $22,000 lost funds had been recovered. Oxfam Great Britain director Barbara Stocking said the group took the matter seriously and affirmed to remain vigilant in the future as “the public who gave so generously should be reassured that the money they donated continues to help change the lives of people who were so devastated by the tsunami.” (Source: Oxfam acts over Aceh aid misuse/British Broadcasting Corporation)
