Pakistan has established a disaster management agency aimed at enhancing the country’s disaster preparedness and mitigation measures, Pakistan’s Daily Times reports. Created under a 2006 law, the National Institute of Disaster Management will serve as a venue for training and research for both the public and private sectors. The Pakistani government is set to build an NIDM building complex with financial and technical assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
