Paraguay Gains IDB Infrastructure Aid

The Inter-American Development Bank is offering Paraguay a USD125 million credit line to help enhance the country’s urban infrastructure and public transportation system.

The credit line will fund the rehabilitation of existing public spaces and construction of new ones. It will be also used to build pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths, new government offices and citizen service centers, as well as restore historic buildings in Barrio San Jeronimo in downtown Asuncion.

The program will also help to establish an integrated and efficient mass transportation system for the metropolitan area by focusing on high-capacity bus transit in dedicated lanes.
