The Peace Corps and Save the Children announced May 3 the signing of a memorandum of understanding that will increase the resources for HIV/AIDS, nutrition, education, and other programs for Peace Corps volunteers.
The MOU will also give Peace Corps volunteers and staff members additional technical assistance and training from Save the Children. It was signed by Peace Corps Director Aaron S. Williams and Save the Children CEO and President Charles MacCormack in a ceremony at the Peace Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C.
“Peace Corps volunteers work in thousands of communities worldwide to improve the lives of families and children. This partnership increases the capacity of both organizations at a grassroots level and puts us in a better position to create sustainable solutions for local communities,” Williams said, as quoted in a Peace Corps press release.
