PEPFAR Backs GBV Efforts in 3 African Countries

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, committed USD30 million to help of its partner countries in Africa scale up their efforts to prevent gender-based violence.

The new funding aims to improve the reach, coordination and efficiency of gender-based violence initiatives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and Tanzania, according to a U.S. Department of State news release.

In addition to the financial support, PEPFAR also pledge to help the three countries better monitor and evaluate their gender-based violence programs.
