Standard & Poor’s on July 14 raised Peru’s long-term foreign currency debt rating to investment grade, or BBB-, the second major credit rating agency do to so this year. In a statement, Standard & Poor’s said that its decision for the upgrade, from BB+, was based on Peru’s strong economic growth that it expects to continue “despite an increasing riskier international environment,” referring to global market volatility.
