European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs said he was delighted that Romania, Latvia and the United Kingdom’s aid spending was not affected by budgetary reductions.
“[T]here will not be less money for development. There will be more,” Piebalgs said during his visit to Romania on June 25-26.
Piebalgs said he is confident that progress will be achieved in September’s Millennium Development Goals summit and donors will keep their aid targets, Act Media reports. The EU development chief urged Romania to draw up its development cooperation policy.
