Poverty is a question of political will, not resources, says Oxfam head

A running theme at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development is that resources today are scarce, and the world needs to get creative and make the most of them to tackle crises such as poverty.

Amitabh Behar, executive director of Oxfam International, argued that there’s no shortage of resources. It’s simply a question of political will as to whether those resources will be directed to fight inequality.

He cited what he referred to as “startling” statistics to back him up.
