Rebuilding mainland India will need $1.2 billion, a joint evaluation by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and the United Nations revealed. The price denotes the costs of rehabilitation for the tsunami-ravaged states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Pondicherry, and leaves out those of the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago where the government decreed a restricted-entry policy for international groups and aid agencies. According to the report, the three organizations are conferring with New Delhi "on how they could fit into the reconstruction efforts."
