Red Cross Appeals for Aid to Sri Lankan IDPs

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society have appealed for USD3.4 million to provide humanitarian relief for some 25,000 Sri Lankans displaced by conflict and the deadly 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

The appeal is intended to fund the construction of new homes and repair damaged houses in northeastern Sri Lanka. The funding will also be used to build health services and livelihood programs for affected communities.
