The World Bank earmarked USD42 million to support the Electricity Distribution Rehabilitation Project in the Dominican Republic. “This project will help reduce both technical losses and energy theft on the EDEs’ [EdeNorte, EdeSur, and EdeEste] rehabilitated power circuits, as well as improve the quality of electricity service for regular customers,” according to Yvonne Tsikata, World Bank Director for the Caribbean. The agency said the initiative will bolster the 24 Hours of Light Program, which aims to ensure full-day delivery of electricity.
