Status of jailed aid workers in Myanmar

In June, the Myanmarese government arrested several aid workers for arson and inciting unrest in the Rakhine state. Since then, most have been released, including three who were convicted but later pardoned.

Speaking to Devex on the sidelines of the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative, U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres says he’s pleased with the decision and hopes the same gesture will be extended to the rest still in jail in the Asian country.
