The European Commission is providing another euro17 million (USD23 million) to address humanitarian needs in Darfur, South Sudan and transitional areas ahead of the January 2011 referendum on South Sudan’s secession.

The supplementary funding will be used to provide food, nonfood items, nutritional supplies, medical kits, seeds and tools. It brings the bloc’s total humanitarian aid for Sudan to euro131 million.
