Some 11,600 new enterprises were established in Switzerland in 2008. The figure is 3.2 percent less than the previous year’s level, according to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office. The number of jobs created also decreased from 23,100 to 21,800. A newly established enterprise created an average of 1.9 jobs in 2008.
