Tanzania to Receive $555M EU Aid in 2009

will provide 385 million euros ($555 million) to Tanzania in 2009. According to the commission, the funding is the biggest ever since cooperation began in 1975. The Annual Action Program 2009 includes 305 million euros in budget support to be channeled under a so-called Millennium Development Goal contract. Tanzania is one of only seven African nations to have such an arrangement, which provides for a six-year financial commitment to support procedures and policies that pursue achievement of MDGs.
