The career journey of a refugee who became a senior development adviser

Everything in life begins with a belief — the belief that you are capable of achieving something. In many ways, it's the most crucial step in starting any journey, including your career path.

That was the message from a recent Devex conversation with Abir Aldhalimi, Ph.D.

Aldhalimi fled Iraq as a refugee following the Gulf War in 1991 and spent part of her childhood in a refugee camp in the Middle East, before going on to pursue a career in clinical psychology. She shared how this background had helped her tackle development challenges.
