The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has joined the Devex Impact Strategic Advisory Council, which comprises leading institutions at the intersection of business and development.
The Strategic Advisory Council guides Devex Impact in its mission to provide companies, organizations and professionals the practical information they need to make an impact.
The Global Fund is a public-private partnership dedicated to attracting and disbursing resources to prevent and treat HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Its approach to international health financing — through partnerships between governments, civil society, the private sector and affected communities — has been hailed as trailblazing. The fund works in close collaboration with other bilateral and multilateral institutions to supplement existing efforts dealing with the three diseases.
The Global Fund will be represented on the Strategic Advisory Council by Dr. Christoph Benn, the director of external relations. Benn joined the Global Fund in 2003 and is responsible for building and maintaining good relationships with all Global Fund partners and mobilizing resources for the institution through the management of replenishment conferences and spearheading innovative approaches, including (Product) RED and Debt2Health.
The other Strategic Advisory Council members are Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Boeing, BSR, Chevron, ExxonMobil, the GAVI Alliance, IBM, KPMG, Orange, Pfizer and the U.K. Department for International Development.
