The top global development employers in Haiti in 2025

Haiti’s economy is largely sustained by agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry. However, its fertile land and export potential remain hindered by constrained access to finance and a lack of basic infrastructure.

Since 2021, the Caribbean nation’s economic and social crisis has also deepened, due to political instability, escalating gang violence, and recurring natural disasters. This year, such conditions have led to unprecedented levels of food insecurity, affecting 5.7 million — or 51% — of Haiti’s population. The World Bank forecasts a 2.2% gross domestic product contraction by the end of 2025, while the International Monetary Fund estimates a roughly 3.1% decline over the same period. Collectively, these trends underscore an increasingly urgent need for humanitarian and development support in the country.

In this article, we take a look at the top global development employers in Haiti, with over 300 jobs posted on Devex since our last piece in November 2024. Hiring activity was concentrated in Port-au-Prince, the country’s capital and the epicenter of the political, economic, and humanitarian engagement, with French language skills usually listed as a requirement for most roles.
