Chile’s non-governmental organizations have not yet reached the fame of their American or European counterparts. But the country’s civil society has been active for more than 30 years, and some NGOs are active in wide parts of Latin America.
Chilean nonprofits rely mainly on local staff as well as volunteers from around the globe. Each year, entry-level professionals looking for experience in the field can participate in programs dealing with issues such as housing, health, agriculture and microfinance.
