The Ugandan government has retrieved 2.3 billion shillings (USD1 million) in misappropriated funding from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Sunday Vision reports. The funding had been deposited with the Ugandan central bank by individuals and institutions involved in the 2005 scam. The Kampala District, National Chamber of Commerce and Solicitor General’s Office are among the agencies that need to repay the stolen money.
