The Uganda Red Cross has appealed for 2 billion Ugandan shillings (USD973,000) to fund humanitarian operations in eastern Uganda, where close to 300 people are feared dead following floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains. It said the amount will be used for rescue operations, health and sanitation services, psychological support for affected families, and the provision of shelter equipment.
