The British government will provide more than USD350 million to help develop new technologies for preventing HIV, U.K. Development Minister Gareth Thomas announced. “Only through research will we find new ways to halt this epidemic,” Thomas said, “and I hope this funding will help discover new life-saving technology.” The research will focus on the creation of an HIV vaccine, new drugs, and gels, films or sponges to protect women from being infected during intercourse.
