UN Goes Mobile to Register Colombian Refugees in Ecuador

The United Nations is using an innovative mobile registration scheme to reach and gather basic information of some 26,000 Colombian refugees living in an isolated area of northern Ecuador. The USD2 million mobile registration scheme allows the U.N. and its partners to reach refugees instead of waiting for them to travel to registration sites. This expedites the approval of asylum claims and delivery of legal services to refugees, the U.N. explained.
