UNDP Begins Drafting New Myanmar Aid Program

The United Nations Development Program met Tuesday (May 3) with the newly appointed government and other local stakeholders in Myanmar to discuss the agency’s new program and review its existing activities for the country.

UNDP’s planned 2012-2015 program for Myanmar aims to help reduce poverty and improve livelihood opportunities in the Asian country. Its focus areas are livelihood and community development, environment protection and disaster risk reduction, sustainable microfinance, and governance and human rights promotion.

The new program is based on the four priorities of the United Nations’ new strategic framework for Myanmar, UNDP noted in a news release.
