UNICEF seeks more aid for Zimbabwe

UNICEF is appealing for more aid to fund its programs benefiting children in Zimbabwe. “We need money to be able to provide help,” Unicef spokeswoman Veronique Taveau said in a press briefing in Geneva. “Because of the human rights situation there, lots of donors are resistant to give money. But the situation on the ground, particularly for children, is dramatic,” she added. Taveau revealed that the agency has so far only secured 30 percent of the required $14 million for various projects in the drought-prone African country this year.
