UNV to establish new Asia-Pacific regional office in Bangkok

United Nations Volunteers will soon establish a new regional office in Bangkok to improve coordination, cooperation, design and implementation of volunteer programs in Asia-Pacific, Devex has learned.

Kwabena Asante-Ntiamoah, UNV program specialist for Asia, the Pacific and Europe, will head the new office, which will focus on program design, technical support and partnerships to assist UNV country offices as well as implement its own programs at regional level.

“When we say supporting the field units, for example in the Philippines, the UNV office there may have an opportunity whereby they may need [assistance] since they don't have the capacity or expertise to do the programming and implementation, the UNV hub or the UNV regional office is going to [provide] that capacity,” the Ghanaian official told Devex on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth Volunteerism last week in Bangkok, Thailand.
