US Donates Medical Station to Haiti Hospital

The U.S. Agency for International Development donated a medical station to the pediatric St. Damien Hospital located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The station can be used as a 250-bed, acute-care facility for both outpatient and inpatient needs. It includes adult and children resuscitation kits, a full pharmacy and nursing, housekeeping and administrative stations. Rick Frechette, the priest currently running St. Damien, welcomed the donation and said it will allow the hospital to begin servicing adult earthquake victims. St. Damien is one of the few hospitals that survived the Jan. 12 earthquake.
