U.S. Agency for International Development staff on administrative leave can be called back to work to help wind down the agency in the final stages of its dismantling. This could also entail taking on new roles in the coming months.

The news comes a week after the agency’s entire workforce was slashed and the Trump administration told staff they would be employed until either July 1 or Sept. 2.

On the same day that staff received these termination notices, they were sent a form where they were asked whether they preferred to work or to go on voluntary administrative leave during this timeframe.
