Some USD21.5 million has been pledged for the Middle East Regional Technical Assistance Center, which provides technical assistance and training on banking supervision, public debt management, revenue administration, public financial management and macroeconomic statistics.
The International Monetary Fund, European Commission, France, Kuwait and Oman, as well as METAC beneficiary countries - Lebanon, Jordan, Libya, Syria and Yemen among others - again pledged support for the center.
The pledges, announced Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C., cover about two thirds of the center’s requirements for its third phase of operation, which runs from May 2010 to April 2015.
