Venezuelan opposition and pro- government student groups marched in Caracas and in smaller cities as the country prepares for a referendum next month on President Hugo Chavez's proposal to eliminate his term limits. Protests and marches are becoming more frequent as Venezuelans rally to support or oppose a vote to amend the constitution to allow Chavez to run for another term. A proposal that would have eliminated the president's term limits was defeated by voters in 2007. Student marches have turned violent at times over the past week, and Chavez told police to use tear gas to dissolve protests. (Bloomberg)
