A grant program is seeking proposals from early career investigators from the United States and beyond who have creative and novel ideas on how to prevent HIV transmission and ensure long-term survival with the infection.
The Creative and Novel Ideas in HIV Research is a collaboration among the International AIDS Society, National Centers for AIDS Research and the National Institutes of Health’s Office of AIDS Research. It is ready to award up to $150,000 in direct costs per year for up to two years. IAS will provide grantees funding to attend the society’s meetings during the proposed research period.
An ideal candidate for the program has the following qualities:
No more than 10 years after completion of a doctoral degree, or medical residency within the past 10 years.
Should be part of faculty.
New or without prior experience in the HIV field.
Should not have had any previous grant, subaward or publication in HIV/AIDS research.
All concept proposals should be submitted by Oct. 17, 2011. The announcement of 2012 awardees will take place at the XIX International AIDS Conference to be held July 22-27, 2012, in Washington, D.C.
