    Watch: Acing the interview

Roberto Amorosino, a career coach who previously worked in human resources at the World Bank Group, shares advice about preparing for interviews and assessments.

    By Devex Editor // 17 June 2021
Join Devex for the second in a three-part series, where career coach Roberto Amorosino shares advice about preparing for interviews and assessments with the sector’s big institutions. Researching an organization and understanding the duties of the role beyond the basic job description is one of the most critical things a candidate can do to prepare, Amorosino said. They should also know in advance what skills and strengths they want to highlight in the interview, regardless of what questions come up. He also urged candidates to answer the actual question they are asked — something many people don’t do — and structure their responses so that key points don’t get lost in the middle. Highlights from this event include: • An overview of what the hiring process can look like at big development institutions. • Tips for preparing for interviews, from researching the role to preparing examples of your accomplishments. • The importance of stories and real-life examples to set you apart from the competition. • How to structure your answers. • Examples of competency-based questions you might encounter as well as questions you can ask to impress the interviewer. Speaker: Roberto Amorosino, career coach Moderator: Emma Smith, Devex contributor
