Consulting has its perks: a flexible working schedule, the ability to focus on causes or regions you are passionate about, and the opportunity to work with a variety of clients and donors. But it can be challenging as well, particularly when you are just starting out.
Having a clear idea of the types of organizations you want to work with and then knowing how to connect with them is one piece of the consulting puzzle.
“It's very difficult to be successful, or to even explore opportunities, without knowing [and] understanding the target … the organization, the company … that we have in mind, that we would like to approach. This is the main pre-requirement before we even start thinking of consulting opportunities,” said Roberto Amorosino, a former senior human resources specialist at the World Bank Group.
