WFP seeks $13M for Malawi

The World Food Program needs a further $13 million to finance its operations in Malawi this year, according to Matthews Nyirenda from the agency?s local office in Lilongwe. In October, the WFP announced it lacked $19 million to feed 904,000 per month through the next maize harvest in April. But now, “WFP expects to support 1.3 million people every month through its various food aid programs between January and March 2007,” Nyirenda said.
