The 54th annual meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank kicked off March 14, and here are some of the highlights:
The 2013 Inter-American Development Bank annual meeting opened with a school tour highlighting ”public-private-community partnership.” IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno, Panama’s first lady Marta Linares de Martinelli and other officials toured an information technology-enabled school, thanks to more than 20 government, business and community organizations that funded the school’s improvements.
Young people took center stage at the IDB annual meeting and spoke about innovative ideas that move the world. Youth from the region have founded social enterprises that bring music to communities, provide housing and long-term housing mortgages to low-income people, and transform rainwater to alternative source of energy.
IDB hosted a breakfast with the region’s influential business leaders to talk about the region’s socio-economic priorities. In the meeting, leaders discussed the framework for creating a regional, high-level private sector dialogue.
